Local high school students recently weighed in on how they plan to spend their Christmas break.

Kicking off their two-week Christmas break, Ontario High School seniors Emily Dinger and Kelsey Baker plan to take a trip to Columbus to see the Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and go ice skating with their group of friends.

But Ontario freshman Mason Tinkhan is looking forward to spending time with his family over break. Likewise, freshman Bryce Miller is also anticipating spending time with his family.

Miller noted, “My little sister and brother will probably wake me up at like 6 a.m. on Christmas morning.”

Another Ontario freshman, Olivia Hellinger, is eager for Christmas morning, too. She stated that she often can’t sleep the night before because she’s excited to unwrap her gifts. She hopes to get decked out with a new wardrobe this year with some new clothes from her favorite stores, Hollister Co. and American Eagle.

Students of Shelby High School were also gearing up and ready to travel during the holidays over Christmas break.

Shelby sophomore Brooklyn Crepf will be traveling to visit her family during the holidays.

“We go to Sandusky, Toledo, and Plymouth for Christmas. We have to travel to a bunch of different places to visit my family. When we are in Toledo, we usually do some shopping. This year for Christmas I really would like some new clothes,” said Crepf.

Freshman Mykala Thatcher will also be doing some traveling over the holidays.

“My family and I go to Greenwich, Ashland, and Mansfield for Christmas. It is where we get to really spend some time with the family. I am hoping that I get some new clothes and shoes this year for Christmas,” said Thatcher.

She also added what she would like to do for New Year’s Eve. “I really want to have a New Year’s Eve party with my friends, but we have to get my mom’s approval for that and of course you can’t leave out the sparkling grape juice during New Year’s,” said Thatcher.

Shelby freshman Melissa Mabe will not be traveling for the holidays, but she plans on staying busy.

“I will be babysitting my baby cousin while I am on break. I will also be going to work with my mom. She works at Little Blessings Day Care in Mansfield. I like to work with kids,” said Mabe. “On Christmas Eve, we usually go to my grandma’s house. I would really like some new boots this year for Christmas,” said Mabe.

“My little sister and brother will probably wake me up at like 6 a.m. on Christmas morning,” said Bryce Miller.
