Butler Elementary School will open the doors to its Tiny Tim Shop at 8 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, allowing students from grades k-5 to purchase gifts for family and friends. For the past five years, the holiday gift shop has been organized by the Butler Parents Club and is set up in the gymnasium at the elementary located at 125 College Street in Butler.

“The kids love it, they have a great time shopping for their family,”said Sally Wilson, secretary for Butler Elementary. “The kids love to shop and pick out things for their moms, dads, grandmothers and grandfathers or brothers and sisters too,”she added.

There will be approximately 14 vendors set up at tables offering various small gift items such as bracelets, small toys and a variety of craft items. Some vendors are local, and some come from Mount Vernon, Columbus and other areas across Richland County. Items will range in price from $5 or less.

According to Wilson fifth grade students will be assigned a kindergarten student to escort through the store and assist them in their purchases.

“It’s really great to see the older kids helping the younger ones. They all have a lot of fun. The kids look forward to it each year,”said Wilson.

Proceeds from the space fees for the vendor tables goes to the Butler Parents Club to benefit the elementary students in various ways.
