Preceding Thursday nights Clear Fork Board of Education meeting outgoing members, Julie Doup, Nick Kuelling and President Gary Mathes were recognized for their years of service at a reception.
Treasurer, Larry Lifer thanked each individually for their service and dedication to the students and residents of the Clear Fork Valley School District. Each were presented with a gift.
“As I’ve said before, there are a lot of things I am going to miss, some I won’t,” Mathes said jokingly. He added, “The valley is a wonderful place filled with great people and Clear Fork is a great school. We don’t put out great students, we put out great citizens, and that I am proud of.”
Board members, staff and guests of the public attending the board meeting enjoyed refreshments and conversation before the regular meeting was called to order.
As the regular board meeting went underway Derek Fisher, Administrator of the Knox County Career Center announced the annual open house was December 12 from 5:30 to 8p.m. “You all are welcome to come, there will be a spaghetti dinner I believe is $6 per person. Adults, students are welcome to come and see what the career center has to offer,” said Fisher.
The Knox County Career Center is located at 306 Martinsburg Road in Mount Vernon and offers students and adults various programs and activities as tools in their career search.
Judy Golden, Clear Fork Ski Club Advisor addressed the board next with plans relating to the upcoming ski trip. The Holiday Valley Ski Trip is January 3-5 and estimated cost per person is $300.
The club will travel enjoy a 2 night, 3 day stay at Holiday Valley Ski Resort in Ellicottville, New York.
Golden urged anyone interested participating should contact her at goldenj@clearfork.k12.oh.us or call 419- 512-2477.
Mathes commented that because the trip would call for students to travel out of state the board would have to approve the trip in the near future.
