In an effort to promote Richland County as the perfect place to spend the holidays, Richland Source, through a partnership with the Richland Community Development GroupĀ and Be Focal Buy Local, the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce, The Weekender, area businesses, and members of the media, is presenting a new content and event-based promotional opportunity called “Choose Richland for the Holidays.”
When reading holiday-themed stories posted on the Richland Source website, click below the “Choose Richland for the Holidays” logo to see a listing of the various holiday events taking place in the community.
The campaign kicked off on Saturday and will continue until Jan. 5.
Samās Club Membership Assistant Manager Hilary Wilkins discussed one of the benefits of promoting local events, noting, āItās good to let our local folks know that you donāt have to go far to get exciting deals and money-saving opportunities but that you can stay home and shop at the local stores.ā
Samās Club is among the entities that chose to participate in the campaign, and as a way to celebrate the holiday season, the store is hosting three different holiday-themed events. The Holiday Taste of Samās Club Event is first on the list, which will take place fromĀ Friday, Nov. 22 throughĀ Wednesday, Nov. 27. During this six day event, Sam’s will give members an opportunity to taste many of the new items Samās Club will offer this holiday season.
In honor of The National Day of Giving, Samās will offer a Day of Giving Back to Richland County, during which they will collect food to benefit food banks in Richland County. The event will take place on Dec. 3.
There will also be an open house on Dec. 6-8. Sam’s Club will open its doors to the public to meet any seasonal needs, from meal solutions to gift giving.
Another example of a local business that is participating in the campaign is Walgreens.
The Mansfield Walgreens will be hosting a toy drive from Nov. 24 to Dec. 16. Everyone is encouraged to donate a new or unused toy to any of the three Mansfield Walgreens locations. Once the drive is over, the toys will be taken to the Childrenās Cupboard, which will distribute the toys to children.
And beginning on Nov. 30, the City of Shelby, another participant in the campaign, is hosting the annual Holiday Store, which will feature craft and merchandise vendors. The store is located at Connieās Place, 24 West Main Street. The Holiday Store will be open on Saturdays in December,Ā 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On behalf of the City of Shelby, Community and Economic Development Coordinator Christina Thompson stated, āWe are all about bringing business into this county. Itās not one city against another, but whatās good for one city is good for all of us because itās about bringing people in.āĀ
“Nothing is better than staying home for the holidays. āChoose Richland for the Holidaysā makes it easy to stay close to home and shop or entertain right here in Richland County,” said Richland Source advertising manager Sharon Houghton, Ā “Offering visits to Santa, trains and conductors, Christmas trees, caroling, great food and shopping, Richland County has everything to make it home for the holidays.”
āWe are all about bringing business into this county. Itās not one city against another, but whatās good for one city is good for all of us because itās about bringing people in,ā stated Christina Thompson of Shelby.
