The Cleveland Clinic is expanding with the newly acquired Ohio Cancer Specialists (OCS) located at 1125 Aspira Court in Mansfield. The acquisition made official on November 1, will make the Mansfield-based center a full-service cancer treatment facility as part of the Clinic’s Taussig Cancer Institute (TCI).

“The OCS team provides wonderful, state-of-the art treatment to its patients, and we look forward to enhancing the excellent clinical care that OCS provide,” said Brian J. Bolwell, MD, Chairman of Cleveland Clinic’s TCI. “By linking OCS’s services with Cleveland Clinic, patients will have access to the latest clinical trials and an electronic medical record that will help bring coordinated, cutting-edge care close to home.”

OCS and its team of four physicians have long served patients in Richland, Crawford, Ashland, Huron Knox and Morrow counties from three locations in Mansfield, Shelby and Willard. The Mansfield office will continue to provide all outpatient cancer services, including consultations in hematology and oncology, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, diagnostic services and patient support. The practice will be called Cleveland Clinic Cancer Centers across all locations.

“As the leading provider of cancer services in the region, we are pleased to be joining our efforts with the number one cancer program in Ohio at Cleveland Clinic,” said Donald L. Dewald, MD of OCS. “This partnership allows OCS to continue to grow in quality and depth of services and to better serve the community.”

Currently, the TCI at Cleveland Clinic is recognized around the world as a leading center for innovative treatments. Home to more that 250 top cancer specialists, researchers, nurses, and technicians, TCI is dedicated to delivering the most effective medical treatments and offering access to the latest clinical trials for more than 13,000 new cancer patients every year.

“That was the goal, to benefit the people of north central Ohio,” said Dewald. He also added with the field growing so rapidly over the years, the opportunity to sell the practice and align with the Clinic was also made with patients in mind.

Current patients of OCS with questions can call the office at 419-756-2122. For more information about Cleveland Clinic’s cancer services may visit www.my.clevelandclinic.org.
