At Tuesday’s Bellville Village Council meeting, Mayor Darrell Banks announced plans for a “Halloween Happy Hour” and Shop & Hop to take place in downtown Bellville on October 23.
“This is all put together as part of RCDG’s” Be Focal, Buy Local” series. It’s a combination Halloween themed event and Shop Hop designed to promote Bellville,”said Banks. He then added,”All merchants are cooperating, showing support, to help show off Bellville.”
The event will kick off at 5 p.m. at the River Rock Sports bar located at 7 Main Street where free maps detailing which merchants would be participating can be picked up. At this time more than 20 local merchants are planning to participate in the costume-optional Halloween event. Throughout the evening merchants will be collecting business cards from people in attendance to be included in a drawing that will take place at 6:45 pm. at the River Rock.
Wishmaker House, Brumby’s Coffee House & Pizzeria, Bellville Flowers, Fast Eddie’s Pizza and Griffon Jewelers are just a few of the merchants who will participate in a show of support to promote Bellville.
There will also be a 50/50 raffle and music will be provided by Steve Brown.
Mayor Banks announced that he is talking with State Representative Mark Romanchuk and the Richland County Correctional Institution to do clean-up and community restoration work. As the details have not been worked out, Banks said he did not have much more information at this time. Banks added that workman’s compensation and liability issues still need clarified and that he would keep council informed of the matter.
Council went into executive session to discuss personnel matters and upon returning to regular session Banks announced that Street Superintendent Ken Hollar would be retiring November 29 and that Ryan Wine would be promoted to the position at that time.
