The Shelby Lady Whippets were in swinging action against Tiffin Columbian High School during their tennis match on Tuesday evening. The Lady Whippets swept Tiffin Columbian by going 5-0 in both singles and doubles matches.

First singles, Ashley Stahl, battled in her sets with scores of 6-1 and 6-4. Stahl is completing her senior year for the Lady Whippets. Second singles, Katie Boor and third singles Katie Bowman, dominated with scores of 6-0 in both of their winning sets.

The doubles teams for the Lady Whippets kept the winning streak alive. First doubles team, Allison Naugle and Chloe Yetzer, won with scores of 6-2 and 6-0 in their sets. Both Naugle and Yetzer are seniors for the Lady Whippets. Second doubles team, Elaina Myers and Claire Yetzer, swept both sets with a score of 6-1. 

Lady Whippets head coach, Jeff Kurtzman, was encouraged with the performance of his team. “The girls looked good today. All of them came out very focused and ready to play. We have a good, solid team and I am happy with their performances. Ashley played really well today, too,” said Kurtzman.

With the season coming to a close, Kurtzman reflected on the how the team has performed. “It was a good season for us. We went 13-6 and we had a mixture of ages of girls this year. We do have sectionals coming up and it will be tough because Lexington is the top team in the state,” said Kurtzman.

The Lady Whippets travel to Ontario for their last match on Thursday, September 26.
