Representatives from the Area Agency on Aging were provided the opportunity to address Butler Village Council members this week. The agency is located at 2131 Park Avenue West in Ontario and dedicated to providing services to seniors who may not qualify for Federal or State funded assistance programs.

Agency Advisory Council member D’ Wisenbarger passed out fact sheets to the members of council as Board Member Carol Michaels spoke about  the upcoming Renewal Levy for Richland County Senior Services.

“These services provide seniors the ability to stay in their homes. Delivered meals and home health care are just some of the services available that do this,” said Michaels.

According to Michaels the levy is a five year 1 mil renewal levy and would cost a homeowner of a $100,000 home approximately nine cents a day.

Wisenbarger added,”I have spoken to several people who have benefited from these services and they were very satisfied.” She went on to add,”Also, I have heard comments from people saying they would not support the levy because they had not received any help. When I asked them if they had called the agency to let them know what they needed, they replied,”no”. Well, people need to call, they need to ask and make their needs known because they are there to help.”

Mayor Kevin Carr responded to the guest speakers saying,”I appreciate what you guys do. I personally know people who have benefited from their services and want you to know that you have my full support.”

Mayor Carr informed council the Trick or Treat and Parade are scheduled for October 26, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and requested the members look into contributing candy and being present for the parade in hopes to create a family fun evening.

John Hower with Rinehart Insurance briefly addressed council with his proposal for Property/Casualty Insurance for the village. Mayor Carr stated the matter would best be handled at a committee meeting to be scheduled at a later date.

“These services provide seniors the ability to stay in their homes. Delivered meals and home health care are just some of the services available that do this,” said Carol Michaels.
