The Madison Lady Rams surged through their tennis match against the Mansfield Senior Lady Tygers on Tuesday evening. First year coach, Laura Coey, was impressed with her team’s performance. “We have a lot of power on our single’s team and our doubles teams have been working great together,” said Coey.

Senior Shelbi Keller won both sets she played against Xue Li with a score of 6-1 in each set. “Shelbi is very good and puts the effort in every single day to be better,” said Coey. Second singles Bri Ashley defeated Shirley Owens in two sets with scores of 7-5 and 6-4. Third singles Shelby Fife triumphed in her sets against Symphony Cooke with scores 6-2 and 6-1.

The doubles team’s kept the winning streak alive for the Lady Rams with first doubles team Nicole Duffey and Casity Schag winning their sets against Teneesha Franklin and Evely Gray with scores of 6-0 and 6-1. Second doubles team Skyler Schmitt and Kylee Parman won against Olta Toska and Symphony Cooke with scores of 6-2 in both sets.

The Lady Tyger’s head coach, Terra Beard, had encouraging words for her team. “We are still learning the basics. We have a lot of girls on the team that are joining tennis for the first year, so we are starting from the beginning with developing skills. It’s all about repetition,” said Beard.

The Lady Rams will travel to Galion on Wednesday, September 4 and the Lady Tygers will compete against St. Peter’s on Wednesday, September 4.

“We have a lot of power on our single’s team and our doubles teams have been working great together,” said Coach Laura Coey.
