The Richland County Sheriff is offering a new service to county residents whereby they can go to Richland County Ohio’s Sheriff’s Website at http://www.richlandcountyoh.us/Sheriff/Sheriff.html and click on the link for Corrections, then click on the link at the bottom of the list that says, “Who’s in Jail.”

The user can then click on inmate information and view a current inmate’s mug shot, charges, bond, out dates, previous bookings and charges, the ability to search people currently in jail and previously incarcerated. This is a live snapshot of who is currently in jail and the jail population. This is provided as a service to the public and for the families and friends of those incarcerated.

The jail receives frequent calls inquiring if a specific person is incarcerated. Callers also ask what the charges are and the bond.

This is a paperless, Web-based system and offers limited access to other agencies.

Making this information available on line will reduce the need for the public to call into the jail and ask correctional staff for information available on the website. This is the same information that correctional staff has access to when fielding calls from the public. This service became available through a recent upgrade of jail management software.

Capt. Joe Masi of the sheriff department’s Correction Division thanks the Richland County commissioners for recognizing the need for the upgrade and or the added funding to the jail budget.
