“It’s gonna take a lot of work,” said Eric Johnson of Johnson Brothers Jewelry & Loan. Located at 30 South Park Street for the past eight years, the Johnsons have temporarily set up shop at 24 South Park Street after a fire on August 12 damaged their business.
The Johnsons commented on the extensive time and work it has taken to move the merchandise and set up shop so that they can continue to serve their customers. Friends, family and even customers have volunteered in the effort.
”The first two weeks we were here 20 hours a day, up to 130 hours a week working,” Rhonda Johnson said, ”People dropped food off to help and show support.”
“Community support has been overwhelming,” added Eric Johnson. He also appreciated the support and encouragement from family, friends and the City of Mansfield has been “an endless source of strength.”
The small business owners’ goal is to continue serving their customers from the temporary location while working to get business open and ready at the original location by Thanksgiving.
