The Streetscape project that has involved paving, curbing and sewer work on Main Street in Bellville is almost complete and the picturesque Richland County village is getting its most recent aesthetic pieces in place.

Lake Erie Electric was contracted to install the new streetlights that are being erected on both sides of Main Street and three lights to be placed in and around the gazebo in the park.

David Griffon council member and owner of Griffon Jewelers on Main Street commented on the aesthetic appeal of the streetlights. “They look real nice, a nice height to them,” he said.

Griffon also said the lights would be fitted with metal hallide bulbs and he believed the vintage style with what is referred to as an “Acorn style top” really brought the look of the project together.

“It’s beautiful, really compliments the theme of the village,” said Griffon.

Bellville resident Ruth Philips remarked,” So far it looks alright, when it is finished and all done I imagine it will be very nice.”

“They are great, just beautiful,” said Christie Cecil, owner of Ru-Len Beauty Bar in Bellville.

The project, including all the street lights on the Village Green, expected to be completed by the end of August, just in time for the village to highlight its charms for the Bellville Street Fair and Homecoming.
