Hursh Drug celebrated its grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration Thursday morning. “The community has been very gracious and appreciative. We are thrilled to be in Shelby with such wonderful people,” said RPh President of Hursh Drug, Rob Knowlton.
Knowlton and his wife Mary, decided to open Hursh Drug in Shelby to offer specific services to customers. “We wanted to open in Shelby because we wanted to be able to offer services that can’t always be granted in chain pharmacies. We offer delivery and charge accounts. These are two huge benefits of Hursh Drug,” said Mary Knowlton.
“We do a lot of our deliveries in Shelby and Mansfield area, but we do deliver beyond that, too. We have delivered to the Ashland area as well,” said Mary Knowlton. “It’s great to have a small home town business that makes customers feel right at home,” said Mary Knowlton.
“We have a spectacular staff here. We are so pleased with how wonderful they are with customers,” said Mary Knowlton. There are 28 employees at Hursh Drug in Mansfield and three employees at Shelby.
“I am so happy to be back in Shelby. I missed the customers because you build a relationship with them and you build trust. I love working with independent pharmacies because you get more one on one interaction with customers and that is priceless,” said Technician, Holly Korbas. Korbas was a previous employee at Cornell’s Pharmacy before it closed.
Hursh Drug was once Bert Dent’s home. “I am thrilled they didn’t tear the main house down. The only thing that was removed was the garage. It’s nice that the home that I lived in for 21 years is now a special part of Shelby,” said Dent.
“This was a difficult project because it used to be someone’s home. There were a lot of safety precautions that we had to take. It was about a 90 day project, but we are very pleased with the final outcome,” said owner of Lamb Builders LLC, Kevin Lamb.
Along with the construction of Hursh Drug, renovations were made to American Family Insurance, which is next door to Hursh Drug. “The construction is incredible and went fast because everyone really worked together. We began work the construction in February and finished in August. I am so pleased with how everything looks,” said owner of American Family Insurance, Karen Calino.
“We are very excited to have Hursh Drug in Shelby because it offers a quality service to customers. The staff will do a fantastic job with taking care of the community,” said Shelby mayor Marilyn John.
Hursh Drug is located on 153 Mansfield Avenue, Suite A and is opened Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
