Butler held its annual Classic Car Show on Saturday and received praise from participants. Sponsored by the Butler Merchants Association, the event was hosted by Weekley Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Butler.

Dash plaques were awarded to the top 20 cars.

“We reached our number, we were set for 100 registration cards and we got it,” said Starla Scholler of the Butler Merchants Association.

First time participant and car enthusiast, Brad Mills of Mount Vernon was very pleased with the event.

“This is pretty nice, I’m glad I came,” said Mills. Mills, a Steelers fan, entered a 2007 Chevy Colorado decked out in Steeler fan décor, complete with a theme that ran over the competition, literally.

“Everybody usually has these little pouting guys, I thought this was cool and different,” Mills was referring to the ‘unfortunate’ position of a certain Browns player who could be seen under his Chevy.

Tall Timber Inn personnel were on hand to feed the crowd their famous Big Kahuna Wings.

Awards were at 7:30 p.m. and first place was a choice of $250 cash or a set of tires of equal value. A floor jack and $25 was the second place prize. The prizes were donated by Weekley and plenty of door prizes including gas cards, goody bags and free wing dinners donated by Tall Timber could be won by entering the 50/50 drawing organized by the Butler Merchants Association.

“It’s going great, we are so happy the weather is cooperating,” said Scholler.

Live music was provided by the Three Crosses Church worship band. The church is located on Cleveland Street in Butler.
