“The bus draws a lot of attention when you’re driving down the road. You get a lot of looks while traveling on 71,” said owner Terry Tash. Co-owner Carla Tash said, “A lot of people will pull right up next to us and take pictures.”
This is the first season that the Snowie Daze Bus has been in business. The bus offers “snowies” to customers. “A lot of people think it’s like an ICEE but the ice is a lot softer like snow. That is where the name snowie came from,” said Tash. The idea of the bus came from a YouTube video the couple watched. “We got the idea last year and we just decided to try it out. It’s something we can retire into and we can travel all over with it,” said Tash.
Tash said, “We can shave 18 cups a minute and we have a wide range of flavors that are offered.” The flavoring that is put on the snowie, is put on by the customers. “The customers can put as little or as much flavoring on the snowie as they want.”
Tiger’s Blood is a popular flavor that customers try. “Tiger’s Blood is strawberry and coconut. It is pretty popular, along with Wedding Cake. Wedding Cake flavor tastes very similar to white cake,” said Tash. Although, customers return to classic favorites such as blue raspberry and cherry. Tash said, “A lot of kids like to make “art projects”. They put about every color possible on their snowie.”
Snowie Daze Bus has made appearances at fairs and festivals, but owners Terry and Carla Tash have also participated in a graduation party with the bus. “We played music and the kids really enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun,” said Tash.
Snowie Daze Bus gives back to the community, too. The bus donated a part of its proceeds made for a day to the Humane Society of Richland County. “We are looking for more businesses to connect with,” said Tash.
“We wanted to bring the Snowie name to Shelby and Richland County. Both adults and children have responded well to the bus,” said Tash. Snowie Daze Bus season runs from May through October, depending on the cooperation of the weather.
