Shelby Police Department received a call from One Stop Auto Repair in Shelby, located at 211 North Gamble Street. A worker found what appeared to be the remains of an infant in the trunk of a car.
Shelby Police Chief, Charlie Roub, said, “The car was brought in for repairs a few days prior. One of the workers that was working on the car noticed an odor coming from within the car.” The worker thought the smell may have been coming from an animal in the car. Roub said, “The worker checked the trunk of the car and found a box. The box was removed and it was determined that was where the odor was coming from.”
Roub said, “When the box was removed the worker uncovered it and found what appeared to be the remains of a small infant.”
Roub stated, “Until we hear more from the coroner’s office, not much more can be disclosed at this time.”
