Apex Academy recently opened its doors and founder Kathleen Hartings hopes to see it as a valuable resource in Richland County. “My motivation behind opening was the need for a private cosmetology school in the area,” said Hartings.

Hartings is no stranger to the world of cosmetology. She is the owner of Aristocrats Hair and Nail Salon, located in Ontario, for 11 years and has 16 years of teaching experience at Madison Comprehensive High School. She received a teaching certificate in career technical cosmetology and marketing through the Ohio Department of Education.

The instructors at Apex Academy are associates of Aristocrats Hair Salon. Courses can be completed in 12 months, while accumulating 1,500 hours. The school will provide a nail only course sometime in the near future. Classes will be offered three times a year in June, September, and March. Tuition financing is available through TFC. Student at Apex Academy must have a 10th grade education and be at least 16 years old.

Apex Academy is a family-owned business. Hartings plans to hold an Open House this summer and in September hair, skin, and nail services will be open. Apex Academy is located at 1788 West 4th Street in Ontario. “My goal is to produce successful cosmetologists,” said Hartings. Future students at Apex Academy will be poised for success.
