This afternoon the National Weather Service of Cleveland hosted a webinar for emergency management and city officials. For the area west of Interstate 71, there is a severe weather threat from 4-8 pm today. The threat includes downburst winds and heavy rains. On Wednesday, a cold front could cause high winds and hail in Ohio.
With the City of Shelby and Mohican Valley already saturated from rains, there will be a “heightened risk” in the area. Flash flood risk is highest in areas that most recently saw flooding. Rivers already high will be vulnerable.
The City of Shelby encourages residents and businesses to register online at www.nixle.com for free alerts from the Shelby Police Department. Road closings, boil alerts, snow emergencies, etc., are sent as texts or emails to those that register.
Residents and business owners can follow the City’s Twitter account (@growshelby) and the Shelby Police Department’s Facebook page for updates on happenings within the city.
