On June 27, the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Violent Crimes Impact Team (VCIT) and Major Crimes Unit conducted a High Intensity Patrol Operation. The operation initiated with the execution of a search warrant on the first block of Carpenter Road, Mansfield. The search warrant was a result from a joint six-month investigation, involving the U.S. Department of Homeland Security,: Immigration and Criminal Enforcement (ICE), US Customs, US Postal Inspectors’ and the Richland County Sheriff’s Office VCIT.

The search warrant resulted in the seizure of in excess of $100,000 of Counterfeit Pharmaceutical Product and five (5) firearms, which included a Combat 12 Gauge Shotgun and a High Capacity Pistol, with thirty-three rounds of ammunition. The investigation is on-going.

The VCIT then conducted a consent search in the 3000 block of Henry Road, in Plymouth Township. The search resulted in the discovery of a marijuana in-door grow operation. Seized in the search was numerous marijuana plants, grow equipment and paraphernalia. The investigation is on-going.

The VCI Unit then conducted surveillance in the 1100 block of Pawnee Avenue, Mansfield, of a wanted fugitive: William R. Stamper, a white male, 47 years of age, who was linked to several residential Breaking &Enterings. The suspect had a felony arrest warrant for Breaking & Entering F-5.

The suspect was observed arriving at the location with two other individuals. Upon team members surrounding the location, a female fled on foot from the vehicle and into the trailer. The female was taken into custody and was found to have discarded a pack of cigarettes containing suspected crack cocaine. A search of the trailer resulted in the discovery of drug paraphernalia and suspected stolen credit cards and checks. Both suspects were transported to the Richland County Jail and incarcerated. The investigation is on-going.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Office will continue to conduct High Intensity Patrol Operations in the future. Criminal statistics and intelligence information will be used to identify “Hot Spots”, of criminal activity, within Richland County.
