Among the crowd at The Happy Grape, local musician and artist, Jeff Bell, hits a high note with customers.
His act begins with a banjo, and then switches to guitar. In the beginning, Bell jokes with the crowd and carries himself with easy confidence. He describes his broad musical range in the Indie genre.
The Bucyrus native is currently living in Mansfield. His passion for music began at a young age, when he spent most of his time with his grandmother, a classical music instructor. Bell says, “I grew up surrounded by instruments of all kinds and I knew that I wanted to play music and I wanted to be good at it.” And play he does. Bell sets a goal of playing 150 shows each year. His musical influences come from all over the world, particularly African and Arabic music. Each Jeff Bell show is a reaction to the energy of the crowd and that gives each one it’s own, unmistakeable flavor.
Bell simply wants to encourage people to support the local music scene in the Mansfield area. The Happy Grape adds to the local music scene and the musicians featured. The showcase of music at The Happy Grape is widely spread in genres. The lineup is designed to offer something for everyone.
Bell plays acoustic shows every Tuesday night from 7-9 p.m. at The Happy Grape. The two hour show offers an opportunity to support a local, original musician.
