MANSFIELD – The Richland Area Chamber of Commerce Wednesday announced three local women have been selected as finalists for the ATHENA Award in Richland County.
The award, which is being sponsored by Richland Bank, will be handed out at the Chamber Annual Meeting & Dinner on Jan. 26.
The ATHENA finalists for 2017 are Annamarie Fernyak, founder of Mind Body Align, Sally Gesouras, Assistant Vice President for Commercial Lending for Mechanics Bank, and Jodie Perry, President of the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce.
“The ATHENA award is an internationally recognized brand whose recipients are honored for professional excellence, community service and for actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills,” said Brian Schmidt, Chamber Board Chair. “Our three finalists have all made a deep impact on our community in unique ways all the while achieving outstanding professional distinction. We are so excited to recognize their work.”
The Richland Area Chamber of Commerce became the new home for the ATHENA Award in 2016 after being given out by the TWIN (A Tribute to Women & Industry) Committee in Richland County since 1989. The nominations were reviewed by a panel of past ATHENA Award recipients who then selected the three finalists and the recipient, who will be announced at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting.
In addition to the ATHENA Award, the Chamber will also be announcing the Chairman’s Award recipient as well as several Extraordinary Leadership Awards.
The dinner will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26 at the Kehoe Center in Shelby. A cocktail hour kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and dinner, which is being catered by Ed Pickens Café on Main, will be served at 6:30 p.m. The early bird ticket price of $40 is good through Tuesday, Jan. 17.
