Edward H. Miller, 93 of Ashland passed from this life on Saturday, March 14, 2026 in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
He was born on September 21, 1932 in Perrysville, the son of the late, Al and Grace Elvira (nee Portner) Miller.
Ed graduated from Perrysville High School, Class of 1950. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge, he served an additional 16 years as a reservist, for the U.S. Navy. He married the love of his life, the former, Joan Marie Black, on December 24, 1952.
“Upon leaving the Air Force, he went to work at General Motors in Mansfield, Ohio. After MIRACULOUSLY surviving an electrical accident, he worked 25 years at White Westinghouse in Mansfield. He was always very active so he couldn’t just retire! He then worked for Al Williams Electric and the Muffler House in Ashland while dabbling in Life insurance and real estate until he finally slowed down at age 80 when his vision impaired him. He could still kick as high as his head and he was always ready to show you!
After receiving his miracle and new life in Christ in 1958 Ed was very active in the Church of God on East Liberty Street as a deacon, Sunday School leader, and music director for several years.
He played sports while at Hayesville High School and enjoyed bowling, archery, and golf; but Ed was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing the best. That is why he was given a Lifetime Member Award by the Ashland County Wildlife Conservation League. He was always seen volunteering there at “Catfish Tournaments” and “Kids Day” events. Ed served on the Board and helped with electrical facilities maintenance.
He was a One Time President of the Ashland Evening Lions Club. Ed, and Joan, served on the Hospitality Committee and actively supported the club by volunteering in the food truck at Balloon Fest and Yesteryear Tractor events. They sold mints and geraniums for the club’s vision program and other projects.
Thankful for their service. They are together again. They will be missed”
