MANSFIELD — The City of Mansfield Finance Department is reminding residents that assistance  is available to help taxpayers file their City income tax returns as the April filing deadline approaches.

The Mansfield Income Tax Department provides free preparation of City of Mansfield income tax  returns for residents during regular office hours. Staff are available to assist taxpayers Monday through  Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Taxpayers visiting the office must bring the following documents to ensure their return can be completed:

• All W-2 forms

• Any 1099 forms

• Federal Form 1040

• All supporting federal schedules

“Filing early helps residents avoid long wait times as we approach the deadline,” said Kelly Converse,  Mansfield Finance Director. “Our staff are happy to assist taxpayers and make the process as simple as  possible.”

To better accommodate taxpayers, the Finance Department will also open an additional Income Tax office on the first floor of the Municipal Building beginning April 1.

Due to increased demand during the final days of tax season, in-person return preparation will end at 1 p.m. on April 13, 14, and 15.
