Dear friends and neighbors,
Since I took the oath of office to serve as your U.S. Senator on Jan. 21, 2025, I’ve been hard at work for you.
In less than a year, the president signed three of my bills into law to help make life easier and more affordable for you and your family. I remain focused on solving real-life problems for Ohioans.
Lowering health care costs
As you know, health care costs have risen in recent years—faster than the cost of most other family essentials. Part of those costs arise when safe, proven medications are stuck behind the pharmacy counter.
That’s why I introduced the SMART OTC Act, which will modernize the FDA’s process for giving more prescription drugs status as over-the-counter (OTC) options.
You can read the full text of the SMART OTC Act here. This bill was signed into law on November 12, 2025.
Ending a burdsensome regulation
For more than 25 years, Ohioans have shared with me how frustrating bureaucracy can be, so it’s no coincidence that my first bill to become federal law eliminated regulations for hardworking Americans instead of adding to them.
Ohioans don’t need extra burdens, and they don’t deserve to be tangled in red tape. I’ll keep working to make the law and your lives simpler.
My resolution reversed a Biden-era regulation that forced unreasonable energy efficiency standards on an array of the appliances families and businesses use every day.
Those regulations made everyday household items like dishwashers and air conditioners more expensive.
You can read the joint resolution here. This bill was signed into law on May 9, 2025.
Protecting our natural resources
Whether it’s commercial, recreational, charter or tourism, fishing is a staple of Ohio’s rich economy, generating $5.5 billion of revenue a year for our state. Millions of Ohioans rely on the health and maintenance of Lake Erie to put food on the table.
The Great Lakes Fishery Research Reauthorization Act will reauthorize the program for another five years through FY 2030.
The research program provided the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Great Lakes Science Center with dedicated funding to conduct critical research with direct impact on the multi-billion-dollar commercial fishing industry on the Great Lakes.
You can read the full text of the bill here. This bill became law on Dec. 26, 2025.
