MANSFIELD — The 4th Valentine’s Day Card drive for children in foster care has officially come to an end, leaving behind a powerful reminder of the community’s compassion and generosity.
Over the past several weeks, residents, schools, and local groups poured their creativity into crafting more than 6,500 handmade cards, and store brought cards each filled with messages of love, encouragement, and hope.
Organized by Richland County Children Services (RCCS), in collaboration with the Mansfield United Lions Club, the initiative invited residents, schools, and organizations from across the area to take part in spreading joy and encouragement to children in foster care.
Participants of all ages contributed in unique and heartfelt ways — from preschoolers drawing cheerful hearts and colorful scenes, to students crafting elaborate handmade designs, to adults writing thoughtful, uplifting notes filled with words of hope and compassion, ensuring that each card carried a personal touch that reflected the community’s care and commitment.
The cards will be delivered to foster children across the county in time for Valentine’s Day, along with small treats or tokens of appreciation.
RCCS encourages all individuals to invest in the lives of children and to provide them with unconditional love, support, guidance, and every available resource to ensure their health and well-being.
