Bruno Schirmacher, age 94, resident of Shelby, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026 in Shelby.

Born January 29, 1931 in Hildesheim, Germany to Bruno Oskar Rudolf & Ida (Sasse) Schirmacher, he had been a Shelby resident since 1957. Mr. Schirmacher attended Oberschuel (high school) in Goettingen, Germany and Kunstgewerbeschule (School of Arts and Crafts) Zuerich, Switzerland studying the printing trade.

He was employed with the Shelby Business Forms/Miami System retiring in 1994. Bruno was a former member of the First Christian Church, past member of the Shelby Jaycees, the Richland/Shelby Branch of the American Cancer Society, a founding member of the Blackfork Players, a member of Sertoma International and supporting member of WGTE and WVIZ-TV public television. He was a long-time social member of the Shelby American Legion Post #326 as well as the Shelby Owls Nest #2553

Survivors include his brother-in-law, Fred Lape of Pennsylvania; nieces, Imke and Bergit; nephew, Dagmar Schirmacher; special friends, Dana and Dave Steele and family; and Jody Shearer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Margaret (Jackson) Schirmacher, whom he wed on June 27, 1959; two brothers, Gerd and Kurt Schirmacher; one sister, Helga Fuchs; and sister-in-law’s, Evelyn Jackson and Ruth Lape.

Per Bruno’s wishes funeral services will not be observed at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
