Rosa Margaret (Sigurdurdottir) Blackledge, age 76, passed away on January 18, 2026.
Rosa was born in Akureyri, Iceland on January 19, 1949 to the late Sigurdur Eriksson and Fanney Jonasdottir.
Rosa came to Ohio in 1970 where she met and married Ed Blackledge. They were married for 53 years until his passing in 2024. She was a hairdresser by trade but enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom for many years, volunteering as a classroom aide as well as coaching cheerleading at St Peter’s High School. Once her kids were high school age, Rosa worked in the floral business as a designer for many years.
Rosa is survived by her children: Sveinn Petursson, Maria (Jamie) Masi, and Heidi Rubeck;
grandchildren: Abigail, Sophia, and Gracie Masi and Emma (Mathew) and Alena Rubeck, great-
grandchild Rowan Rubeck; as well as sister-in-law Bara Sigurdurdottir; and many nieces and nephews .
Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Stykar, Hakon, Sigurdur and Jonas; her sister, Svandis; her mother-in-law, Mildred Blackledge, brother-in-law Richard Blackledge, and numerous other family members.
At her request, there will be no public services, but a private burial will occur at a later date.
