Phyllis Ann Barr, age 94, of Ashland, passed away on December 27, 2025, at Belmont Tower in Brethren Care Village in Ashland, Ohio.
Born in Chicago, Illinois on August 26, 1931, the daughter of Erwin and Anna (Consoer) Koeritz. She had been a resident of Ashland County since the 1980s. She graduated from high school in New York and attended Wittenberg (College) University in Springfield, Ohio where she met Robert B. Barr. On June 24, 1951, they were married in Illinois. Rev. and Mrs. Barr served several churches in Ohio and Mrs. Barr was very involved with those ministries. Rev. Barr precedes her in death.
Surviving are three children: Daniel Robert (Melissa) Barr of El Paso, Texas, Deborah Ann (Philip) Burd of Twinsburg, Ohio, and Roberta Eve Barr of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and one niece and two nephews. Also three step-grandchildren and their spouses and four great step-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Rev. Robert Barr (a WWII army veteran and Lutheran minister) she is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Erwin M. Koeritz, and two great-granddaughters.
Phyllis was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed knitting, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed her stuffed bear collection, which was added to over the years.
Funeral services will be held on January 7, 2026, at 12:00 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Pastor Kevin McClain officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Perrysville, Ohio. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am till 12:00 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Lutheran Church’s memorial fund.
