WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP — A 70-year-old Columbus woman was killed early Monday morning after a one-vehicle crash in Richland County, according to the Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Charlene Lagerberg was pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to authorities, the crash occurred early Monday morning at 4:38 a.m. on I-71 near mile marker 166. While traveling southbound, a 2020 white Jeep Cherokee went off the road and down an embankment — landing on Vanderbilt Road, the Patrol stated.
The driver, Leontine Vandyke, 81, of Marengo, sustained injuries from the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to authorities. Lagerberg was in the front passenger seat.
All roadways are currently open for travel. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
