Jeanine Gates, age 70, died Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Brookwood Place in Ashland, Ohio.
Jeanine was born in Shelby, Ohio on April 11, 1955, to Kenneth R. and Marianne (Vail) Gates, and was a long-term Shelby resident. After graduating from Shelby High School in 1973, she obtained her education degree from The Ohio State University and for many years taught second grade, at Dowds Elementary School.
Jeanine enjoyed flower gardening, and she was exceptionally gifted at several different forms of needlework and embroidery. She was also an avid reader.
Surviving family members include her mother Marianne, two brothers Daniel (Susan) Gates of Shelby and John (Kathy) Gates of North Carolina; along with her nieces; great-nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Jeanine was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth in 2014.
Private graveside services will be observed at a future date.
