Freda was born on August 14, 1944. She married the love of her life, Leotis Lawhorn, on February 16, 1962. Together they built a happy and loving life, sharing almost 63 years side by side until Leotis’ passing in January 2025.
Freda leaves behind five children who will forever cherish her memory: Leona (Mike Connolly) Goulden, Leotis Lawhorn Jr., Tim (Jennifer) Lawhorn, Philip (Kelly Gandee) Lawhorn, and Michelle (Rob) Gonzales.
While Freda deeply loved and was always proud of her children, nothing compared to the joy she found in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She gifted them countless fond memories and delighted in retelling stories of their antics and shenanigans together.
Her grandchildren include Bethany (Travis Cole) Goulden, Geoffrey Goulden, Jessica Lawhorn, Ashley Lawhorn, Jenna (Kade Sayre) Gonzales, Robbie (Trinity Potts) Gonzales, Taylor Lawhorn, Kayla Gonzales, Lillian Lawhorn, and Adelyn Lawhorn. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Isla and Miles Cole.
One memory her grandkids will cherish is Freda’s love of Little Debbie cakes, which she kept tucked away in a special kitchen drawer reserved for her grandchildren. That drawer was a symbol of her generosity and thoughtfulness, and many sweet memories were made gathering around it for treats, laughter, and conversation. Solving crosswords was a favorite pastime.
In addition to her beloved husband, Leotis, Freda was preceded in death by many relatives, most recently her sisters-in-law, Janet Faye Tackett and Joyce Stevens.
Family and friends are welcome to visitation on Saturday, December 27, 2025 from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Rd, Ontario, OH 44906. A memorial service will follow at 10:00AM, officiated by Pastor Dallas Waggle.
