Marianne Zajack, 88, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Liberty Nursing Home in Mansfield, OH. She was born in Munich, Germany on February 15, 1937, to Josef and Anna (Zenger) Kain.
She met the love of her life, John Richard Zajack, Jr. in Germany, while he was serving in the Army. They were married in Munich, Germany on October 14, 1957. She came to the United States with John and daughter, Loraine, to Fort Knox, Kentucky and their son, John Richard Zajack III was born in 1960 at Fort Knox.
A good homemaker, she was very proud of her sewing talents. Marianne loved cooking for her family. John and Marianne were great dancers and enjoyed dancing at the German Club. They were both life members of the Mansfield Liederkranz Club.
Marianne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Loraine Parker; and brother, Zeb Kain and her brothers-in-law, Alex Moxrieter, Jerry Zajack, Bob Lipps, Bob Pryor, Dick Miller, and Harry Baker.
She is survived by her son, John R. Zajack III; sister, Betty Moxrieter; sister-in-law, Inga Kain; sisters-in-law Betty Lipps, Jane Baker, Janet Miller, Judy Weaver, Joan Zajack son-in-law, Bob Parker; niece, Astrid Ziegltrum; grandchildren, Jason Keen, Amber Hoover, Derek (Summer) Smith, Keesha Mosley, Shane Lively; great-grandchildren, Alec, Luke, Lexi, Logan, Jayse, Pyper, Aliah, Shane Jr., Ariel, Arian, Case, Jordan, Harley, Zacory, Kianna, and Michael.
Marianne enjoyed life and could keep you in stitches talking about her “antics” growing up with her brother and sisters and then coming to America. She leaves behind a legacy of family and memories of great German cooking we have all enjoyed over the last 65 years.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Friday December 19, 2025, at Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Mansfield Cemetery.
