Robert (Bob) Edward Allen, 96, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, December 6th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 4th, 1929, in Mansfield, Ohio. He was the son of John Allen and Eleanor Zimmerman and the stepson of Glen Grinstead.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who loved and cared greatly for his family. He was a 1946 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. Bob was married to Keitha Irene (Sowash) Allen on March 3, 1950, in Mansfield, Ohio. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Mansfield. He served as a Navy Reservist, where he learned and taught Morse code. Bob worked at Westinghouse in Mansfield at a young age and worked his way up to Supervisor of his department. He then worked at Ashland University as the print manager until he retired. After retirement, he enjoyed playing euchre with his friends and family, going on trips with his wife and family, watching old western movies and the Ohio State University football games on television, and being with his family during holidays and whenever possible.
Bob is survived by several people he loved very much, including: three children – Diane Nielsen of Shelby, Robert (Marlene) Allen of Centerburg, and Michael (Marilyn) Allen of Bucyrus; six grandchildren – Holly (Steven) Nielsen-Rowlett of Bellevue, Michele (Howard) Nielsen of Baltimore, Melissa (Aaron) Pospisil of Plain City, Christopher Allen, Courtney Allen, and Colin Allen; two great-granddaughters, Kara Grace Rowlett and Elowyn Williams, and great-grandsons, including Emmett and Evan Pospisil, and sister Barbara (Joseph) Mollica.
Preceding Bob in death are his parents and step-father, grandparents, brother-in-law Joseph Mollica, and wife Keitha Irene (Sowash) Allen.
The family will be holding a private viewing on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Snyder Funeral Home in Mansfield. Bob will be laid to rest with the Lord and alongside his loving wife, Keitha, at Mansfield Cemetery in Mansfield, Ohio.
