NEW LONDON — Plymouth earned its first win of the season on Friday night by tripping New London in a Firelands Conference road decision.

Ben Trimmer’s 3-yard run pushed the Big Red Vikings on top 6-0 in the first quarter.

Cullen Mason intercepted a Wildcats pass and raced 25 yards for a pick-six to open a 12-0 gap in the second period.

New London closed to within 12-6 at the half when junior Landon Harrison hauled in a 66-yard touchdown pass.

The Big Red Vikings got some breathing room when Lincoln Distl plunged in from a yard away midway through the final period for a 20-6 margin.

Junior Gabe Ellis scored on a 2-yard run with 6:09 remaining, but that was as close as New London could get.

Plymouth improves to 1-6 overall, 1-3 in the Firelands Conference. The Big Red Vikings will bus to Monroeville next week.

Last season, Plymouth and New London squared off on Oct. 11, 2024 at Plymouth High School.

In recent action on Sept. 19, Plymouth faced off against Ashland Mapleton.
