Mary Rose Jackson, age 74, lifetime resident of Shelby, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at The Ohio State Wexner Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Mary was born on November 24, 1950, in Shelby, to the late James and Thelma (Sutter) Jackson. She graduated from Shelby Senior High School in the class of 1969. Following high school, Mary attended the Mansfield Beauty College in 1970 becoming a licensed beautician in Ohio. She would also become licensed in Louisiana and Florida. She was primarily employed with North Central Technology in communications and R. S. Hanline & Company Inc., where she retired after 31 years. In her 31 years of service at Hanline, Mary genuinely enjoyed the company of her co-workers.
Mary was artistic and crafty. She liked different forms of painting, including acrylic, watercolor, and oil painting. She also enjoyed quilting. One of her favorite hobbies was taking care of her flower garden. She would often sit and watch the butterflies and hummingbirds land on flowers and drink nectar. She loved rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes and cheering on “The Best Damn Band in The Land.” One of Mary’s favorite events was attending the annual HOOT (Heart of Ohio Tole) conventions in Columbus.
She is survived by her siblings, Jim Jackson, Kathryn Keiser, and Michael J. Jackson all of Shelby.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents.
