MANSFIELD — A 42-year-old Lexington man died in a one-vehicle crash Friday night on U.S. 30, according to the Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Cody Newton was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said in an email sent Monday afternoon. The crash occurred Friday at 10:02 p.m. near mile post 6, according to the patrol.
Newton was driving westbound on U.S. 30 in a 2011 Cadillac CTS when his vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck trees.
His wife, Erica Newton, a passenger in the vehicle, was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.
Springfield Township Fire and EMS, the Richland County Coroner, and Shelly Smith and Sons Towing assisted at the scene, the patrol said.
The crash remains under further investigation, troopers said Monday afternoon.
