Carl Roderick Steward, Sr., passed on July 30, 2025, at Columbus Healthcare Center. Born on July 22, 1941, to Charles and Gladys (Ruhl) Steward, Carl was a lifelong resident of Mansfield, Ohio.
He was a bus driver with Madison Local Schools and was a guard at the Ohio State Reformatory. He was also a roofer, painter and truck driver and a proud Army veteran.
Carl attended church at Corner Stone. Carl participated in gatherings at the local VFW and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his children, Jody (Kerra) Steward, Robin (Steve) Steward-Rielly, Judy Sallerson, and Sharron Steward; siblings, Arthur Steward, Raymond (Jan) Steward, and Pauline Shaffer; grandchildren, Madison Steward, Shayla Steward, Joshua Steward, Jenneva (Kenneth Pitre) Steward, Brian Steward, Jody Hutchison, Daniel (Autumn) Collins and Samuel Sallerson, several great grandchildren, and many cherished family and friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; son Carl Steward, Jr.; brothers Charles Steward Jr., Virgil Steward, and Earl Lee Steward, and brother-in-law Larry Shaffer.
Burial will be held at Windsor Park Cemetery on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, with a graveside service beginning at noon at the grave.
