Jean L. Wallace, age 84, passed away peacefully Friday, July 25, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born November 23, 1940, in Shelby, to Roy and Fannie (Hartz) Hanlon, she had been a lifelong Shelby resident. A graduate of Tiro High School, Jean was employed with Autocall for numerous years before her retirement.
Jean loved the outdoors. Whether she was in her garden tending to her vegetables and flowers or fishing. She would gladly cast anywhere that had water. She enjoyed cuddling up with her two Chihuahuas, Buddy & Marley, watching the Cleveland Guardians, listening to music and dancing. More than anything, Jean adored her family. She cherished the time spent at family gatherings, especially being with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, John Wallace, whom she wed July 26, 1960; five children, Tom (Renee) Wallace of Shelby, John Wallace II of Mansfield, Jeff (Theresa) Wallace of Shelby, Rhonda (Dave Mann) Green of Masontown, WV, Leslie (Kenny) Biglin of Shelby; nine grandchildren, Monica (Jason) Adkins, Josh (Jenny) Wallace, Brittany (Eric) Andrus, Hayden (Becky) Green, Brandon (Kaitlyn) Spangler, Megan Spangler, Owen Wallace, Tasha Patton and Ryan Staton; 11 great grandchildren, Michael Adkins, Jillian Adkins, Marshal Adkins, Kaylee (Aiden) Wallace, Camryn Wallace, Kelsie Wallace, Bret Tackett, Savannah Green, Aubrey Green, Ollie Spangler, Archie Spangler; one great great grandson, Myles Balas; two sisters, Joann (Don) Bishop and Carol Williams, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives who will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three sisters Sue Harris, Mary Rollins, Lois Nye and four brothers, Don, Leroy, Kenny and Ron Hanlon.
Friends may visit the family at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby, Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, the following day on Thursday at 10:00 AM with interment held in the Shelby Oakland Cemetery.
