Robert “Bob” Ardis, age 81, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital on July 12, 2025.
Born on March 1, 1944 in Pine Creek, West Virginia, known to many as the Holden 22 Coal Camp Community, Bob was the beloved son of the late Frank and Teresa Ardis. His Appalachian roots grounded him in the values of hard work, loyalty and quiet strength, which he carried with him throughout his life.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. During his service, he earned the Marksman Badge Rifle, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal, honors that spoke to his dedication and courage. Following his military service, Bob worked at Ideal Electric, where he devoted 42 years of skilled service before retiring. His strong work ethic and reliability left a lasting mark on all who worked beside him.
Bob enjoyed a simple and full life, he loved hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with his family. Some of his fondest memories were made spending time with his brothers, Lou, Art and Frank. The brothers’ memories were a cherished tradition and source of laughter, storytelling, and deep connection.
Bob is survived by Coleen Robinson, the love of his life and soulmate for 58 years; stepchild Toni (Buck) Kelley; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother Luciano (Carol) Ardis; nieces and nephews: Anna (Dave) Ardis, Frank (Missy) Ardis, Teresa (Rob) McQuate, Angela (Mike) Gremmer, Allison (Bill) Furbee, and Dawnielle Ardis; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom he held dear.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Aldo “Art” Ardis and Frank Ardis Jr.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 from 12-2pm at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 60 S. Mulberry with a Funeral Mass celebrated at 2:00pm. Burial will take place at Mansfield Catholic Cemetery immediately following with military honors provided by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bob’s memory to the American Lung Association.
Bob’s legacy is one of service, loyalty, and love. His presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.
