Harold Miller, age 81, of Shelby passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025, at his home.
Harry was born on March 30, 1944, in Shelby to Leon B. and Agnes (Eberl) Miller. A lifelong Shelby resident, Harry graduated from Shelby Senior High School in 1962 before proudly joining the United States Marine Corps. He had courageously served in the Vietnam War. Harry was then employed with ArcelorMittal formerly, the Tuby, in Shelby for over 40 years. A previous member of the American Legion O’Brian Post #326, he was also a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Shelby.
As an avid golfer, Harry participated in leagues with the Tuby and traveled yearly to Myrtle Beach, SC to golf with friends. He also enjoyed attending car shows and going for rides on his motorcycle, especially after his retirement in 2011. He loved to watch sports, and looked forward to supporting the Ohio teams, such as the Indians, Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Although nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his children and grandchildren and watching them at their sporting events.
Harold is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Jean Miller, whom he wed on August 17, 1973; his four children, Matthew (Sara) Miller of Westerville, OH, Gregory Miller of Shelby, Melissa (Jason) Diglaw of Shelby and Nicholas Miller of Shelby; six grandchildren, Ethan Miller, Grace Miller, Kendall Miller, Alex Yuengert, Rowan Diglaw and Brielle Diglaw; four sisters Donna (Gary) Biglin, Kathy (Bill) Stanton, Diane (Tom) Metzger and Debbie (Jeff) Pifher; two brothers Jim and Michael (Diana) Miller; brother-in-law Rick Stokes; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Bernard “Bernie” Miller, Kenny Miller, Carol Stokes, Bob Miller and Mary Fike-Traxler.
Friends and family may visit at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a rosary recited at 7:15. A funeral mass will be held 10:30 AM the following day on Friday, at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 29 West Street in Shelby. Father Chris Mileski will officiate with an interment held in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. Richland County Joint Veteran Burial detail will honor Harry’s dedication to our country following the services.
