Janis A. Hobbs, age 85 of Shelby, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025 at JAG Healthcare Shelby.

Born in Crestline October 25, 1939 to the late Cecil and Leona (Rietschlin) Metzger, she had been a Shelby resident most of her life. A 1958 graduate of Shelby High School, she had been employed with Shelby Business Forms for 20 years. Mrs. Hobbs was also employed with Peoples Drug Store, and she delivered the Mansfield News Journal for six years. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Church and during her lifetime she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and being with her grandchildren and pets.

Those who will cherish her memories include her son, Tom Roberts of Shelby, Ohio; her stepsons: Donnie (Phylis Rank) Hobbs of Camden, Michigan and Douglas (Dianna) Hobbs of Fredericktown, Ohio; her five grandchildren, Tanner and Alexa Roberts, Cheyenne, Robert and Christy Hobbs; her five great grandchildren; her sister Rosann May of Shelby; her brother, Gerald Metzger of Toledo; and her nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hobbs whom she married November 14, 1969; her sister, Marilyn Metzger; her brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Nancy Metzger and her brother-in-law, Bill May.

Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 9, 2025 starting at 11:00 AM at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Church in Shelby. Father Chris Mileski will officiate with interment in Most Pure Heart of Mary Cemetery.
