MANSFIELD — William Clay and Colin Hall were the Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment Students of the Month for March and April, respectively.
The two were honored Saturday when the 44 W. Fourth St. non-profit academy had its monthly belt promotion ceremony.

Student of the Month awards are based on perseverance, integrity, indomitable spirit, courtesy and self-control.
“These two students excelled in one or more of these virtues,” Sensei Reneta Music said.

Out of 50 students, 21 were present for the Saturday event.
During the belt promotion, each student performed their promotion kata individually, demonstrating their understanding of the meaning behind the kata. Students were required to meet the standards of their promotion kata by showcasing their stances, postures and patterns of movement.
Music said the academy recognizes each student is unique and individual considerations are taken into account.
The following students received new belts:
– Anders Dove: Yellow Belt
– Harley Clay: Yellow Belt
– Jordan Knepper: Yellow Belt
– William Clay: Yellow Belt
– Kayden Harris: Blue Belt
