Sandra “Sandy” Lou Sheaffer, age 87, resident of Tiro, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital with her loving family by her side.

She was born September 18, 1937 at home in Shiloh, to the late Franklin Paul and Vera Louise (Van Wagner) Bloom. A 1955 graduate of Shiloh High School, she was chosen as Homecoming Queen her senior year. Following graduation, Sandy attended the Columbus Business College where she earned her Associates Degree and became the executive assistant at Westinghouse until 1961. On February 12, 1961, she married the love of her life, William “Bill” G. Sheaffer and they moved from Shiloh to Tiro, where she became a stay at home mother. After returning to work as an Administrative Assistant, she retired from Herald Printing Company following an extended career.

A member of Crouse Memorial Lutheran Church in Tiro, she and her husband were auxiliary members of New Washington Legion.

Over the years, Sandy along side her husband Bill, participated in several bowling leagues with friends and they enjoyed traveling and visiting casino resorts. She was a great cook and baker, baking the absolute best pie dough. Sandy also enjoyed crocheting, word puzzles and watching game shows, especially Jeopardy and the Wheel of Fortune.

She is survived by her children, Kim (Karen Brause) Sheaffer of Lewes, Delaware, Scott (Susan) Sheaffer of Shelby, and Paul (Kimberly) Sheaffer of Tiro; four grandchildren, Morgan (Brad) Schneider of Shelby, Emily (Andrew Gepfrey) Sheaffer of Sidney, Ohio, Dalton (Lexi Biglin) Sheaffer of Bucyrus and Daniel High of Tiro; two great-grandsons, Liam and Gavin Schneider as well as numerous other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Sheaffer in 2008; infant son Craig Allen Sheaffer in 1971; and grandson Noah Scott Sheaffer in 2022.

Friends may visit the family Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home the following day, Thursday, at 10;00 AM. Pastor Ben Carver will officiate with interment held in Tiro Oakland Cemetery.
