HURON COUNTY — A 31-year-old woman died in a two-vehicle crash Monday night, according to the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the accident occurred at 8:56 p.m. on Cleveland Road near Townsend Avenue in the City of Norwalk.
Ashley Smith, 31, of Wakeman, Ohio, was driving a 2012 Hyundai Accent eastbound on Cleveland Road, according to the patrol.
Smith went left of center and collided head-on with a westbound 2018 Kenworth tractor-trailer, driven by William Kovac of Cleveland, troopers said.
Smith, who troopers said was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead at Fisher Titus Medical Center.
Kovac was not injured, according to the patrol.
The crash remains under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by Norwalk Police Department, Norwalk Fire Department, Huron County Sheriff’s Office, North Central EMS, Interstate Towing and the Huron County Coroner.
