CRESTLINE: Ronald Thomas Stewart, 83, of Crestline passed away Wednesday January 8, 2025 following an extended illness.
The son of Thomas and Gene Stewart, Ronald was born June 7, 1941 in New York City. Upon graduating from high school, Ronald served in the United States NAVY. Following his active duty service, Ronald served in the United States Army Reserves, where he retired after 20 years. While in the military he served as a medic. Stationed in Philadelphia he met Mary Grudier whom he married on March 17, 1978. Ronald and Mary shared a love of sailing and while living in Arkansas, the two would sail the Gulf of Mexico around Florida and up the east coast. Quite the thrill seeker, Ronald sky dived and in his younger years worked as a rodeo clown. Ron and Mary moved to Ohio to raise their children.
Ron’s passion for soccer led him to work as a youth referee locally and also for the USA Cup and Dallas Cup.
Ronald never met a stranger. He loved to be around people, they gave him energy. He had the ability to walk into a room knowing no one and leave with a friend. More recently, Ronald led bible studies at a local nursing homes.
He is survived by his sons Tom Stewart, Andy (Adeana) Stewart, and Rob (Kristin) Stewart; “special daughter” Onnettea Parnell; grandchildren TJ, Veronica, and Duncan.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Stewart; son Ronald Stewart, Jr., and sister Ellen Stewart.
His services will be announced at a later date.
