Alberta Ann Stephens, age 87 of Shelby, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the home of her granddaughter, where she resided under her loving care, surrounded by her family.

Alberta was born on March 4, 1937, to the late Chester and Gertrude (Parlett) Sexton in Dayton, Ohio. On August 18, 1956, she married the late Kenneth Stephens.
She worked in the housekeeping department for Plymouth and Shiloh School, Hillside Acres, and MTD in Shelby. Alberta was a member of the TOPS Club and the United Baptist Church in Shiloh, Ohio.

Alberta enjoyed flowers, with her favorite being Lilies. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cherishing the moments they shared together. Whether it was celebrating milestones, enjoying family gatherings, or simply hearing about their lives, Alberta found immense joy in her family. Additionally, she enjoyed reading, quilting, and cooking. She will truly be missed by family and friends.
Those who will cherish her memories include her children: Darlene Stephens of Shelby, Ohio; Sherry (Shannon) Perry of Mansfield, Ohio; and Penny (Ted) Zachariah of Hartford City, Indiana; and two grandchildren whom she helped raise, Brad (Brandi) Crose of Shiloh, Ohio, and Berta (Brandon) Baker of Shelby, Ohio. Her grandchildren: Keith Stephens, Mario Perez, Tricia Perez, Ashley Stephens, Jamie Stephens, Kalob Stephens, and Paige Zachariah. Her great-grandchildren: Trevor, Gaven, Kendall, Braylin, Maddie, Chloee, Kenny, Scott, Mathew, Alex, and Christine. Her siblings: Samuel Sexton of Plymouth, Ohio; Chester Sexton of Bradenton, Florida; and Nellie Trowbridge of Seffner, Florida.

Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Stephens; her children: Christine Stephens, Kimmie Stephens-Perez, Bruce Allen Stephens, and Kenneth “David” Stephens; her grandbaby, Marcos Perez; and her siblings: Edward Sexton, James Sexton, Kenneth Sexton, Lester Sexton, and Shelby Sexton.

Friends and family may come to honor Alberta’s life from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby, Ohio. A funeral service will follow calling hours starting at 12:30 pm at Barkdull Funeral Home. A burial will follow the funeral service at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio.
