OLIVESBURG — Some have made the case that Crestview senior Justice Thompson is one of the greatest boys basketball players in school history.
On Friday night, Thompson bolstered that case by pouring in 34 points, grabbing 7 rebounds and distributing 4 assists to help the undefeated Cougars hold off Plymouth 62-57 in a tight Firelands Conference clash.

Drew Spoerr chipped in 13 points as Crestview improved to 8-0 overall, 5-0 in the Firelands Conference.
Plymouth offered a game effort. The Big Red Vikings led 33-30 at the half. But the Cougars had just enough in the final two periods to pull out the win.
This marked Thompson’s third consecutive game scoring more than 30 points. He compiled 31 in a 66-48 beating of Monroeville, and then erupted for 36 points in an 80-49 pounding of South Central. The 6-foot-5 standout also had 33 points earlier this season against Lucas.
The Cougars have now won 29 straight games at Crestview High School dating to February, 2022. They remain the only unbeaten team in north central Ohio.
Crestview hosts Highland on Tuesday.
Cainen Kilgore topped Plymouth with 22 points and Jarrett Burrer chipped in 18.
The Big Red are 4-5, 2-3 and will welcome Bucyrus at home on Wednesday.
