The Mansfield Fire Department responded to a call at approximately 1:25 p.m. Thursday to the Woodside Estates Mobile Home Park on Steeple Chase Drive in Mansfield. The fire was fully involved when the firefighters arrived.

When fire trucks arrived a middle-aged woman had come out of the mobile home with burns to the head and ear area, according to Assistant Fire Chief Jim Bishop.

“When we arrived there was visible fire coming out of the back window and back door,” said Bishop. “The fire was well-involved when we got here,” he added.

Four trucks, two ladder trucks and two engines, from the Mansfield department were at the scene, in addition to fire and rescue.

The woman whose name was not released was taken to MedCentral Hospital.

Dorothy Luster a resident of the mobile-home park stated, ”This is the worst I’ve ever seen.” Luster went on to share that two years ago her home burned down.

According to Bishop, there is no official cause of fire at this point.

”This is still under investigation at this point.” Bishop stated that the victim made statements regarding the her use of space heaters and that she believed there was a possibility that some clothes may have come in contact with one of the heaters. The heater in question was retrieved from the mobile home for the investigation.

“The damage is extensive. It is a total loss,” added Bishop.
