MANSFIELD — The Richland County Democratic Party is having a special meeting on Jan. 2nd.

Also, the Secretary of State’s Boards of Elections’ Winter Conference is scheduled for the week of Jan. 6 through 10.

Due to the fact that both Democratic Board Members Larry and Venita Shoulders, Elections Director Matt Finfgeld, as well as many employees of the Richland County Board of Elections will be attending the Conference in Columbus, the Democratic Party will be moving its regular meeting which would have been Jan. 9 to instead follow the Special Meeting on Jan. 2.

The term on the Board of Elections will run for the next four years, and is currently held by 1st Vice Chair Venita Shoulders. Vice Chair Shoulders is the only announced candidate for the upcoming term to date. All Central and Executive Committee Members may vote on this appointment.

The Special Meeting for this purpose as outlined in ORC Section 3501.06 and the party’s bylaws will commence at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2 at Democrat Headquarters, 16 S. Park Street in Mansfield. Dinner will be served starting at 5:30 p.m.

The regular monthly meeting will then commence immediately following the conclusion of the Special Meeting.
