Ronald A. Bowers, 94 of Ashland passed away on Friday afternoon, November 1, 2024 in the Kingston of Ashland.
He was born on October 21, 1930 in Akron, Ohio the son of the late Frank and Grace (nee England) Bowers.
Ron graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1948. Following his graduation, he proudly served in the United States Navy.
He married the love of his life, the former Shirley Horst on July 18, 1956.
Ron retired after many years from Wil Research where he worked in the maintenance department; and previously at Garbers Printing and Ad Art where he was a linotype setter.
He was a devoted member of Dickey Church of the Brethren. Throughout his life, he loved to travel and do yard work.
Ron enjoyed going to auction sales and finding electric razors, radios, vacuums, and lawn mowers to fix up.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Shirley Bowers of Ashland; one daughter, Janice Bowers of Delaware; one son, Dennis (Trish) Bowers of Columbus; a grandson, Sergejs (Sydney) Bowers of Columbus; a great granddaughter, Penelope Bowers of Columbus; a brother, Harold Bowers of Castle Rock, Colorado; and a sister-in-law, Helen Bowers of Akron.
In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn (Pete) Boreman; his brother, Dale Bowers; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Bowers.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Dickey Church of the Brethren with Reverend Tom Zuercher presiding. The Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will be in the Ashland Cemetery.
